The Z Squad program is a coaching and evaluation system designed to provide all bowlers with a pathway to achieving their potential.
Since the beginning of 2019 our WP Z Squad membership has exploded, mainly due to a better understanding of what the programme can offer each and every player in our district.
The dedication and time spent behind the scenes by our own District Standing Committee for Coaches (DSCC) and WP office is evident. Huge thank you to Jenny Griffiths our Convener of Coaches. Remember anyone can join to improve their game.
Who should be part of this programme?
Any player in pursuit of high performance goals at a National level.
Any player who wants the opportunity to develop their bowling skills on ANY level for their own bowls enjoyment.
When do these coaching sessions take place?
There are two Z Squad sessions per month – the Z Squad Assessment and Z Squad Coaching.
The Z Squad Assessment is a scoring strategy where the players complete a specific set of drills as set out by the National Standing Committee of Coaches. Results are captured and feedback is given to the players.
Z Squad Coaching is a coaching program that takes place for two hours on a Saturday morning. The first hour is spent on honing skills such as strategy / psychological skills and then the second hour is spent on the green either doing drills that link with the first hour or other helpful skills to improve your game.
What are the goals of the programme?
To develop voluntary and/or identified players with potential, who COMMIT to regular participation in a coherent National programme as a feeder for National squads
To provide an accessible long term player development programme (LTPD) for talented, committed players – a pathway to reach their potential (Players are not selected for this programme – they just need to be committed!)
How do I get involved?
If you would like to attend please send Jenny Griffiths a WhatsApp on 083 680 0169 and she will guide you accordingly.
