2022 Avion Park Differently Abled Tournament

At Avion Park this past weekend there was a high standard of bowls with 2 visually impaired bowlers, 5 physically disabled and one able bodied player all on the BSA long list for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The rain made play interesting with green speeds changing on average 6 times a day due to puddles and pools on their synthetic green.
Home ground advantage favoured Kobus and Gareth from Avion Park winning the event for the second year in a row.
Well done boys.
Our very own Princess Schroeder and Tommy van Vlaanderen from WP ended in 13th place out of the 20 teams.
This was the second year that the tournament was run over the Easter weekend – pairs teams were to include a player with a disability. Due to a smaller field of players – those not scared of the weather – first prize was reduced to R14000.
What a great idea for all our districts!
