WP Juniors Update – December 2021
Junior Competition at Plumstead
The Plumstead BC Junior Competition was held on Sunday 22nd November. This event was a great start for what the WP Executive would like to achieve in organising quality junior events throughout the year. The event was run by the WP Junior Standing Committee (Gerrit van Milligen, Marianna Kirsten, Jenny Phillips, Jenny Griffiths and Taz Bright) and 42 juniors who attended. The next event is already in the planning phases.
Holiday Clinic
The December Holiday Clinic planned for this month has been postponed to the new
year. Dates for our 2021 holiday clinics will be confirmed in the next circular.
Junior Competitions
The WP Singles and Pairs competitions are having new Junior sections added! All entries will be done through Clubs to the WP Office and the draw will be done by Chris Nurrish, WP Competition Secretary.
More information will be distributed in due course.
Junior Masters
A reminder that the WP Junior Masters is on the following dates – 13 and 14 March.
WP Junior Trials
Two dates have been set for the WP Junior trials – Saturday 30th January 2021 and 27th February 2021.
These will be morning only events from 09h00 to 12h00. These trial venues will be confirmed in the new year.
The WP Junior Standing Committee will select our Junior teams for the Bowls SA u15 and u20 National Championship in Bloemfontein and the players for the WP Junior Masters after these two trials. The selection for the Junior Nationals will include eight under 15 players (two teams), eight u20 players (two teams) and two reserves for each age group. Squad practices will be coordinated following selection of the teams.

The following managers have been appointed to the teams:
u15 A – Jenny Griffiths
u15 B – Marianna Kirsten
u20 A – Jenny Phillips
u20 B – Taz Bright
Junior Inter Districts
The u30 Inter Districts tournament is from the 20th to 23rd September in Hermanus. Trial dates and events for all these players will be announced in the new year.
WhatsApp Group
There is also a WP Junior WhatsApp group that will be used as a communication platform for all up and coming events. If you would like to be added to this group please contact Taz Bright. We thank all the dedicated secretaries in advance for looking after this membership group and communicating these messages to them.
